The most famous luxury department store in the world!
"LEXI! Look at that building! It's HUGE! And so FANCY! Is THIS where the King shops?!"
Arriving at Harrods!
After our magical time at the Disney Store, we traveled to Knightsbridge - one of London's most elegant neighborhoods. And there it was - HARRODS! The building was absolutely MASSIVE, taking up an entire block! The famous green awnings stretched as far as I could see!
"Lexi! This place is ENORMOUS!" I said, my head tilting all the way back to see the top of the building!
"Harrods spans SEVEN floors and has over 300 departments!" Lexi explained, looking equally impressed. "It covers 5 acres! That's like... like five football fields of shopping!"
"FIVE FOOTBALL FIELDS?!" My tail stopped wagging from shock. "How are we going to explore ALL of that?!"
"We don't have to see everything," Lexi said with a smile. "We're here to experience the luxury, see the famous Food Hall, have lunch, and learn about royal quality! Remember - the royal family has shopped here for over 100 years!"
"Founded in 1849 by Charles Henry Harrod!" I remembered from our research. "That makes it... um... really old!"
"Over 175 years old!" Lexi corrected gently. "And it's been THE place for luxury shopping ever since!"
Lexi's Luxury Fact:
"Harrods' motto is 'Omnia Omnibus Ubique' - which means 'All Things for All People, Everywhere'! They believe everyone deserves access to quality and luxury!" - Lexi being knowledgeable as always!
The Royal Warrant!
As we walked closer to the entrance, Lexi stopped and pointed to something special on the building!
"Look, Flo! Do you see those special crests?"
I looked where she was pointing and saw beautiful royal emblems displayed proudly on the building!
"Those are Royal Warrants!" Lexi said with excitement. "They mean that Harrods supplies goods to the British Royal Family! The King himself shops here!"
"THE KING SHOPS HERE?!" I barked loudly, then quickly lowered my voice when people looked at me. "Sorry! But... THE KING?!"
"For over a century, the royal family has trusted Harrods for quality!" Lexi explained. "When we meet the King for tea, we'll be able to tell him we visited the same store where he shops!"
"This is SO exciting!" I whispered. "We're walking where royalty walks! Shopping where royalty shops!"
"Now you understand why Harrods was on our must-visit list!" Lexi smiled.
The Egyptian Escalator!
When we stepped inside, I had to stop and STARE! The interior was like a PALACE! Everything was elegant, polished, and beautiful!
"Lexi! Look at the ceiling! Look at the lights! Look at... WHAT IS THAT?!" I pointed at the most amazing escalator I'd ever seen!
The escalator hall looked like something from ancient Egypt! Golden colors, ornate decorations, hieroglyphics on the walls, and a beautiful domed ceiling!
"The Egyptian Escalator!" Lexi said with wonder in her voice. "It was installed in the 1990s and it's one of the most photographed places in Harrods! It's inspired by ancient Egyptian temples and tombs!"
"Can we ride it?!" I asked excitedly!
"Of course! We need to go up to explore!" Lexi said, hopping onto the escalator with her three legs balanced perfectly.
As we rode up, I couldn't stop looking at all the details - the golden statues, the intricate patterns, the beautiful lighting! It felt like we were traveling through time to ancient Egypt!
"This isn't just an escalator," I said in awe, "it's a WORK OF ART!"
"That's Harrods for you," Lexi said. "Even something as simple as moving between floors becomes an extraordinary experience!"
"This glass palace is so beautiful!" said Flo. "It's perfect to remember our trip!" said Lexi.
The Buckingham Palace Display!
As we explored the beautiful departments, we came across something VERY special - a gorgeous display with a miniature of Buckingham Palace!
"LEXI! It's the Palace! Where we're going for tea!" I said excitedly, admiring the detailed model on its elegant red cushion!
"Look how beautiful it is!" Lexi said, her eyes sparkling. "This display is perfect to remember our trip! London's luxury, royal connections, and our upcoming tea party - all represented in one place!"
A kind staff member in an elegant uniform smiled at us. "That's a special piece," she said warmly. "Harrods has always celebrated London's royal heritage."
"We're going to have tea with the King!" I blurted out, then covered my mouth with my paw. "Oops! Was I supposed to say that?"
The staff member's eyes widened with delight. "How wonderful! Then you must visit our Food Hall - we have treats fit for royalty!"
"That's exactly where we're headed!" Lexi said proudly!
The Magnificent Food Hall!
When we entered the Food Hall, I couldn't believe my eyes! It was like stepping into a PALACE of food!
The ceiling was decorated with beautiful painted tiles in green and gold! Crystal chandeliers hung from above! And everywhere I looked, there were displays of the most amazing food!
"Lexi! It's SO BEAUTIFUL!" I whispered, not wanting to disturb the elegant atmosphere.
"The Harrods Food Hall is world-famous!" Lexi explained, her voice filled with wonder. "It's been here since the Victorian era! The decorations on the ceiling are original - over 100 years old!"
We walked past counters filled with gourmet cheeses, fresh pastries, exotic fruits, chocolates, teas, and international delicacies from all over the world!
"Look at all the food!" I said, my nose twitching with all the wonderful smells. "There's bread from France! Cheese from Italy! Chocolates from Belgium! Tea from... everywhere!"
"That's why Harrods is special," Lexi said. "They bring the finest foods from around the world to one place! It's like traveling the world through food!"
Dining like royalty in the magnificent Food Hall!
Lunch Time!
We found a beautiful little table in the Food Hall, with elegant green velvet chairs that matched Lexi's backpack perfectly!
"Lexi! These chairs are SO fancy!" I said, carefully hopping up onto mine. "I feel like a proper lady!"
"That's the Harrods experience," Lexi said, sitting gracefully on her chair. "They make everyone feel special, whether you're royalty or regular visitors like us!"
We ordered afternoon tea - sandwiches with the crusts cut off, delicate pastries, and special treats! I also ordered sausages - my favorite! And Lexi had some delicious fish! Everything was presented on beautiful china plates!
"This is EXACTLY like what we'll have with the King!" I realized, looking at the three-tiered serving stand. "This is practice!"
"Excellent observation!" Lexi said proudly. "We can learn proper tea manners here! Watch - you hold your cup like this, sip gently, and dab your mouth with your napkin!"
I tried to copy Lexi's elegant movements. It was HARD holding a teacup with paws, but I was determined to learn!
"How am I doing?" I asked nervously.
"Beautifully!" Lexi said warmly. "The King will be impressed!"
The food was DELICIOUS! The sandwiches were fresh and perfectly made! The pastries were light and sweet! And the tea... oh, the tea was the most wonderful I'd ever tasted! My sausages were juicy and flavorful - cooked to perfection! And Lexi's fish was fresh and tender - she said it was the best fish she'd ever had!
"Lexi," I said between bites, "I could get used to this luxury life!"
"Enjoy it!" Lexi smiled. "But remember - luxury isn't about being fancy all the time. It's about appreciating quality, treating yourself occasionally, and knowing the difference between needs and wants!"
"So we don't NEED fancy tea every day," I said thoughtfully, "but it's nice to experience it sometimes as something special?"
"Exactly!" Lexi nodded. "That's wisdom, Flo!"
Over 300 Departments!
After our delicious lunch, we walked through more of Harrods. Everywhere we looked, there was something amazing!
"Fashion! Jewelry! Home goods! Books! Technology! Toys! Pets! Sports!" I counted on my paws. "Lexi, there's EVERYTHING here!"
"Over 300 departments!" Lexi confirmed. "Fashion, food, furniture, electronics, beauty, gifts - truly 'All Things for All People'!"
We saw designer clothes that looked like they belonged on runways! Sparkling jewelry in glass cases! Beautiful home decorations! Even a department for PETS!
"LEXI! There's a PET department! We could shop for OURSELVES here!" I said excitedly!
"Harrods really does have everything!" Lexi laughed!
What impressed me most was how every department looked special - beautiful displays, elegant decorations, and staff members who were so knowledgeable and kind!
"Every section is like its own little luxury shop!" I observed.
"That's the Harrods way," Lexi said. "Excellence in every department, no matter what you're shopping for!"

"Lexi, do you know what the BEST part of Harrods was?"
"The delicious lunch?" Lexi guessed with a smile.
"The lunch was AMAZING! But the best part was realizing something important - luxury isn't about having expensive things. It's about APPRECIATING quality, treating yourself with respect, and understanding that everyone deserves to experience excellence!"
Lexi stopped walking and looked at me with so much pride. "Flo! That's incredibly wise!"
"The staff at Harrods treated us like we were important, even though we're just a dog and a cat," I continued. "They didn't care that we don't have lots of money or fancy clothes. They cared that we appreciated what we were experiencing!"
